How many laser treatments are required to see optimum results?
Patients may require anywhere from 4 to 6 treatments to achieve the desired results. Each session will last 15 to 30 minutes and treatments should be at 4 to 5 week intervals. Most patients will see improvement within 3 to 4 months.
How does BOTOX® work?
BOTOX® works by weakening the muscles that pull on the skin, which are the main factor causing the appearance of lines between the eyebrows and at the outer corner of the eyes.
Why see an Ophthalmologist for cosmetic skin treatments?
Botulinum toxin (BOTOX®) was actually first used by ophthalmologists, and still is, to treat spasm disorders effecting the eyelids, as well as for treating double vision. Since most cosmetic injections are close to the eye and have potential side effects, it is the ophthalmologist that understands how to administer correctly in order to avoid complications.
What are the possible side effects of JUVÉDERM®?
Most side effects are mild or moderate in nature and their duration is short lasting (7 days or less). The most common side effects include, but are not limited to, temporary injection site reactions such as redness, tenderness, firmness, swelling, lumps/bumps, bruising, itching and discoloration. As with all skin injection procedures, there is a risk of infection.
Are cosmetic laser treatments painful?
Because we provide our patients with the latest technology available in cosmetic lasers, these treatments should cause only minimal discomfort. Our air cooling system increases patient comfort and makes it possible to avoid the use of topical anesthesia. Any redness or swelling that occurs typically will resolve within 24 to 48 hours.
